How-to guides
Export your data and delete the family
Export everything as JSON, the diary as CSV, and PDFs from Settings › Export.

Goal: a copy of everything, and if you leave, a clean end. Exports: parents. Deletion: owner only.
Export#
- Go to Settings › Export.
- Under Export family data, tap JSON (all data) or CSV (logs). PDFs are listed under Portfolio & yearbook and Print.
- Watch Past exports. When a job reads done, tap Download. Links are valid for five minutes; come back here for a fresh one.
Delete the family#
- Under Delete family data, read the note: it removes all logs, media, accounts, and stored exports after the grace period.
- Type the family's exact name to confirm.
- Tap Request deletion.
From then on every adult sees a banner: Family data will be deleted on {date}, with Cancel for the owner. Every non-viewer adult is also emailed. After the date, the cloud copy is purged, calendar events pushed to Google are removed, exports are cancelled, and devices erase their local copy on next sync. Signing in afterwards shows "This family's data was deleted."
Leave without deleting#
Ask the owner to Deactivate you from Settings › Adults. Your devices are signed out; the family's data stays.
FAQ
What is in the JSON export?
Every row of the family's data plus the shared catalogue, with secrets removed. It is the whole family, not a summary.
How long is the grace period?
Seven days by default. It can be set between 1 and 90 days in family settings. Deletion is permanent once it runs.
