Language plan and exposure
The plannable languages, the per-age budget, who speaks what, how exposure is computed from logs, the 15 percent floor, and the long-horizon checks.
Plannable languages#
Dhivehi, English, Malay, Indonesian, Mandarin. These carry a target and are counted. The interface itself has 19 languages; see Interface languages.
The plan#

Targets are weekly, not daily.
Guard rails while editing#
- Ages 2 to 3: a warning if Dhivehi is under 45 percent.
- Any age: a warning if any planned language is under 15 percent.
How exposure is computed#
- Each block contributes its duration in minutes.
- A block's language is one language, a mix, or Owner language, which resolves to the owner's language from the plan. A block with no language and no mix contributes nothing.
- When a block is logged, the resolved language is stored with the status. Later edits to the template do not change past weeks.
- Actual minutes per language are logged minutes times the stored share, skipping skipped blocks and blocks with no minutes.
- Percentages are whole-number shares of the week's total.
Quotes carry a language but are counted separately as vocabulary, not as minutes.
Thresholds#
- Floor: 15 percent for any planned language, regardless of its target. Below the floor is red.
- Tolerance: 5 points below target is amber.
- Languages with a zero target are not checked.
Where it appears#
- Plan › Week: the forecast bar (planned split for the coming week) with a banner per short language.
- Progress › Dashboard: the exposure donut (actual split, this week) and a banner for languages under 15 percent.
- Progress › Language: the Exposure this week stacked bar and the vocabulary counts.
- Weekly review: the language observation and the "Boost {language} exposure next week" decision.
Long-horizon checks#
- A planned language under 15 percent for eight consecutive weeks.
- No new approved vocabulary in any language for six consecutive weeks.
Both surface on Progress › Milestones with calm wording, and cannot fire with fewer than eight weeks of history.
Vocabulary#
Quotes are logged verbatim. Thaana characters mark a quote as Dhivehi with high confidence. New words are extracted to an inbox for approval, merge, or rejection. Approved words feed counts per language, sparklines, four-week deltas, and first-word dates.
