Roles and permissions

The four roles (Account owner, Full access, Day-to-day, Highlights), what each can do, and the row-level rules that narrow a Day-to-day adult's view.

Updated

Four roles. Role is separate from relationship: a grandparent who runs the day is Day-to-day; a grandparent who watches is Highlights.

Row-level rules#

  • A Day-to-day adult's diary view is one rule, applied everywhere including offline sync: her own entries of any age, anything dated today, and anything starred for the portfolio.
  • Her media access: media she uploaded, media on an entry she can see, and library media.
  • Her review view never includes the parents' coaching-point rationale, decisions, or their rating of her.
  • Day-to-day-restricted areas (Plan, Progress, Review except the summary, Coach, Settings, Portfolio, Outside, Her board, Setup) show "Not available. This area is for parents. Helper mode shows Today, Capture, Playbook and Me."
  • Highlights adults never enter the app. They see a server-rendered highlights page through a link, and can upload a story through that link if it allows.

Sessions#

Owner and Full access sessions last 30 days; Day-to-day and Highlights device sessions last 90 days, rolling. A device session (one-tap invite) has no email and cannot set a password.
